Today, on September 15th Apple has announced some new upgrades for the iPad lineup. This year is the 10th anniversary for the iPad series, and Apple claims to have sold 500 million iPad units, and also the iPad is said to be the no. 1 product when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Anyways, let’s talk about the iPad Air in this article.
In-terms, of Design, this year’s iPad-Air gets a new look, which is similar to that of the iPad Pro line-up.
The iPad- Air gets a 10.9 inch all screen retina display with a resolution of 2840*1640. The display is full laminated, and has a support for P3 wide colour, as well true-tone.
This time the iPad-Air comes with a touch-id sensor, built into the power-button, and this is the first time apple has done something like that. It has custom sapphire parts, beneath for durability, and is easy to use, like previous Touch-ID sensors.
Now, let’s talk about the internal upgrades.
The iPad- Air comes with a apple A14 bionic chipset, which is the world’s first processor, based on the 5nm manufacturing process.
The A14-bionic, is having a 6 core CPU where, 4 of them are high efficiency ones, and 2 are low efficiency ones.
There is a 30% improvement in graphics performance, and overall the chip is 40% better than the 7nm chipsets.
Apple claims, that the iPad Air is even faster than the most selling windows laptops in the market.
Thanks to the A14- bionic, editing 4k videos, or dealing with large photo files is a breeze for the iPad-Air.
Apple also claims , the neural engine on the A14-bionic, is 2times faster than the previous generations.
Also, it happens to have a 16core architecture, and 10 times faster matrix multiplier, for enhanced machine learning performance.
One feature that takes advantage of this is the ML Super Resolution, which can smoothen out the low-resolution images, and remove the grains. That’s awesome in my opinion.
The iPad Air now comes with USB-C with upto 10 times faster data transfer speeds.
It has a regular 7MP Facetime camera, and the same 12MP Rear Camera from the iPad Pro, with support for 4K recording.
The iPad-Air also gets stereo audio setup for enhanced audio experience.
There’s support for Apple Pencil 2.0 and the Apple magic keyboard.
The iPad-Air is said to ship with the iPad OS 14.
Apple claims to have made the iPad from 100% recycled aluminium.
