Apple has gone back to its iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 design with squared corners and boxy shape with the latest iPhone 12 series.

This time around Apple is introducing its ceramic shield glass on its iPhones which are supposed to be 4x more durable than the glass on the iPhone 11.

Not only that the Pro series of iPhones are getting bigger as well with a jump form 5.8” to 6.1” on the iPhone 12 Pro and 6.5” to 6.7” on the iPhone 12 Pro.

But the new iPhones are supposed to retain the same form factor thanks to the shrinking of the Bezels (or side borders in Apple terms) Sadly, we didn’t get any 120 Hz Pro motion this year.

In terms of the actual display, the iPhone 12 Pro retains the Super Retina XDR display on the iPhone 11 Pro with some tweaks.

Apple has also added MagSafe on the back of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro line-ups which helps it to line up better with wireless chargers and allowing to introduce a new ecosystem of accessories for the iPhones.

Moreover, Apple has improved upon the water and dust resistance of the iPhone 12 Pro allowing it to be submerged in water till 6 meters for 30 minutes.

This year, Apple has introduced new colour options as well including Pacific Blue, Gold, Space Grey, White.

Performance

iPhone 12 Pro Performance

Apple’s flagship is now going to be powered by the A14 Bionic based on 5nm with a 6 Core CPU, 4 Core GPU and a 16-core machine learning chip. Apple claims the A14 Bionic has a 50% faster CPU and GPU than any other smartphone in the world.

Apple stated that the A14 Bionic will enable console-quality games on iPhone 12 and 12 pro.

The A14 Bionic is also supposed to be 70% faster in machine learning able to complete 11 trillion operations a second.

Moreover, Apple has partnered with League of Legends so that it can run seamlessly on iPhone with the help of the power of A14 and the speed of 5G.

Speaking of 5G this year’s iPhones will support 5G including the 1 millimetre 5G wavelength as well for a max download sped of nearly 4GBps. Apple has also partnered with Verizon to push 5G even further and more accessible all throughout the US.

According to Apple, they have implemented a different take on OIS this year on the Wide and telephoto lens such that the sensor can make 5000 adjustments a second to even steadier video and 2-second handheld exposure for Night Shots.

The iPhone 12 pro-line-up is the first smartphone to be able to capture Dolby Atmos HDR video and edit it in the Photos app as well making it appealing to on-the-go cinematographers as well.

Moreover, Apple introduces Apple ProRAW which saves RAW photos with the Computational Photography of the iPhone 12 pro. This allows users to tinker with the photos and edit them to their liking if they want.

Battery

Apple didn’t make several announcements in terms of the battery on the iPhone 12 series, but they did clarify that the iPhone Adapters along with the lightning earbuds wouldn’t be included in the box.
