What’s new in iPhone 13?
Design
The iPhone 13 carries forward the squared-off edge of the iPhone 12 but with a better finish and new colors like Pink, Blue, Midnight, Starlight, Product Red. Moreover, the iPhone 13 is now protected with Ceramic Shield and is also IP68 dust and water-resistant.
This year Apple has reduced the notch by as much as 20% making the design more appealing and the display more immersive.
Display
The all-new iPhone 13 has a new OLED Super Retina XDR display which is 28% brighter with 1200 nits of peak brightness and much-improved contrast.
Performance
The iPhone 13 comes with the most powerful SoC, the Apple A15 Bionic with 15 billion transistors. The A15 has a 6-core CPU (2 performance cores + 4 High-efficiency cores) which is 50% better performance than the competition. Furthermore, the A15’s 4-core GPU is 30% faster than the previous gen.
In terms of the neural engine, it is now capable of 15.8 trillion operations every second. All in all the A15 Bionic in the iPhone 13 is a powerhouse.
Camera
The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini feature the most advanced dual camera on an iPhone to date. The iPhone 13 boasts a much larger sensor with a 1.7-micron pixel size for more light and less noise. It also comes with sensor-shift technology that moves the sensor for stabilization for improved low-light capability. The ultrawide is capable of better low-light pictures.
In the video department, apple has added CInematic mode and photographic styles ( applies real-life filters).
Battery
This year, both the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini get an upgrade in the battery department with a larger battery providing an additional 1.5hrs of usage on the 13 mini compared to the 12 Mini and 2.5hrs more usage on the 13 compared to the iPhone 12.
Price and Availability
The iPhone 13 and 13 Mini remain unchanged in terms of price at $699 and $799 for the iPhone 13 Mini and 13 but for twice the storage at 128GB respectively.
