The President and Head of R&D at IT & Mobile Communication Divisions started the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event with the words that the Launches of 2021 are Human-Inspired Innovations that personalize our experiences and “Make Every day Epic” as it says everywhere.
The S21 series focusses most on two things- 5G and Camera, as the world has become more of video-centric, be it inspirational or recreational videos, shooting personal experiences or video calling friends, family and colleagues.
The S21 series is made with the inspiration “how you live today with everything you need in tomorrow”. They have levelled up their phones inside out.
The S21+ comes with the fastest chip ever, most complete software with better user experience and an epic camera that holds ‘the power of cinema in the palm of the hand’

Design
Coming to the design, both S21 and S21+ have really unique colours like purplish pink and orangish pink and design. There are three variants available for the S21+ with the toughest front screen and a matt finish on the glass back whereas the S21 has matte polycarbonate back. The camera is surrounded by a metal plate, circling them in a rectangle that extends up to the sides. This is a whole new unique design never seen before.
Display
S21+ is powered with a super-smooth display with a self-adjustive screen refresh rate of 48-120 Hz. The brightness is so ranged that it can easily make the screen visible even in broad daylight. There is a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,300 peak brightness. The 6.7-inch and 6.2-inch Super AMOLED screen on the S21+ and the S21 with 1080p resolution offers vivid colours and make the user experience even more delightful. The unique addition to the Display is the Eye Comfort Shield that automatically adjusts the blue light emission according to your use and what’s on screen, all thanks to the top-notch AI. The screen refresh rate not only adapts to what’s on-screen but also saves battery.
Camera
Now, the most important thing on which the R&D focused is the camera. The S21 series boasts a triple camera set up with one 64 MP telephoto camera, a 12 MP Ultra-wide camera and a 12 MP Wide camera. The AI-based front camera takes a stunning selfie and has enhanced white balance to adjust the light settings.
The triple camera is prograde cameras taking stunning portrait mode photos where the subject is more refined, and options given for blurring backgrounds are more ranged. You can also create a coloured background and easily remove certain noise or even person from your photos. The Zoom is more stabilized and detailed.
There’s a feature called Single Take mode that can extract shots; screen captures, boomerangs, slow-mo videos, all from just a single take video.
Coming to videos, you can shoot 8K videos, four times than earlier. The videos shot are of super high quality. An awesome feature about this video shooting is 3 MP Screen Captures from the Video Snap, that can give you “shots within shots, stories within stories”.
The most interesting and despicable feature of the camera is the Director’s View. This gives you total control on how you want to control your view, zooming in and out, focusing, refocusing made even easier. It can also record you in a box while you are filming a video.
Performance
The S21 series possesses the fastest chip ever- 5 nm chip- that makes a significant leap to enhance user experience. This chip features a 20% fast CPU, 35% fast GPU and two times faster AI engine, which altogether can perform 20 Tera operations per second.
Processor
S21 boasts such a processor that secures data in such a way that can protect data even against advanced hardware attacks.
It has powerful security. You can keep your locations hidden from the files and photos you share. You will also have an option called Private Share Option, where you can give access to a shared file with selected people and revoke the access whenever and wherever you want. If you don’t do that yourself, the access will naturally expire after two days.
Battery
S21 boasts 4,000 mAh battery whereas the S21+ has a battery of 4,800 mAh which can run all day long even with 5G usage.
Gaming Experience
If you are a gaming freak, then the S21 series might be the best for you. Samsung partnered with Microsoft to bring all the Xbox games to the S21 series, and they also collaborated with Unity. S21 blocks call and messages automatically while you are playing, adjusts power usage leading to low battery drainage and less heating while playing games.
Software
ONE UI 3 customizes user experience all the more with dark modes, lots of widgets in the lock screen, dynamic screen savers changing every time you unlock the phone, customizable call screens and piling up messages from a different location in a single notification. There are a lot more with enhances user habit analyzation and simple and easy navigation.

Availability
The S21 and the S21+ will be available in three different color variants from January 29, 2021, for $799 and $999 respectively. Samsung did a great job putting maximized features for an affordable price. All these are results of laboratory-based tests, so let’s see if the S21+ can live up to the hype and expectations.
