OriginOS Features, availability, and all you have to know

Vivo has been teasing its Origin OS Android skin for some time now, promising a major update of its current FunTouch Software. Now, Vivo has finally revealed the new skin at its developer conference in China, so let’s check out how it stands out.

OriginOS: Design and options

Firstly, the OriginOS home screen makes in-depth use of rectangular and square-shaped widgets, with Vivo calling it a Klotski grid. This is in reference to Klotski puzzles that function as rectangular and square puzzle items.

These widgets can even give so-called “Nano Alerts,” displaying continuously up to date data in them similar to Windows Live Tiles.

The firm focussed on real-world wallpapers and backgrounds in OriginOS. For instance, you may go for a sky background that showcases varied weather effects, for example, something like clouds and wind. Vivo claims that the clouds are sampled from numerous areas and that the wind will dynamically have an effect on them.

Another instance of Vivo turning to the real world for inspiration are wallpapers that mimic the time of day, being brightest at noon and going darkest at night time.

Finally, the firm can be touting live wallpapers that include a timelapse of flowers blooming, with users capable of adjusting the animation pace according to their will.

One thing to note is that users can still toggle between OriginOS and the FunTouch skin.
