Google Pixel 4a Review| Everything you need to know

Yesterday we mentioned the Pixel 4a was to be launched today August 3rd. Now finally the Pixel 4a is out and we are here to tell you everything you need to know about it.

Google Pixel 4a Review

The Pixel 4a has a simple matte black plastic back with a fingerprint scanner on the back along with the camera cutout on the top left side. Towards the front, the Pixel 4a has a nice futuristic display and the speakers, USB-C port is on the bottom. Fortunately, the headphone jack is still here residing on the top of the device. Both the volume and power buttons reside to the right of the phone.

The plastic back means it feels less premium in the hand but is also less likely to get cracked when dropped. Overall, the design is minimal and simple, nothing too flashy but very practical for the price.

The Pixel 4a comes with a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED 60 Hz Display, the display quality is very good with vibrant colors and good brightness. The 5.81-inch display means the phone is compact relative to all the smartphones launched in 2020. The inclusion of only a 60 Hz display can be disappointing for some but for this price it is completely forgiveable.

If you are shopping around the price point of the Pixel 4a, then most probably you haven’t yet used a high refresh smartphone display and for those, this display will serve you fine with a very good image quality.

The Pixel 4a comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G which is a major step up compared to its predecessor Pixel 3a which had the Snapdragon 670. It also has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, which is excellent for its price.

Combining Google optimized Software along with the Snapdragon 730G and plenty of RAM means you will get a smooth experience even if its not blazing fast like the Flagship smartphones in the market.

The cameras are Google Pixel 4a’s biggest strong suit. It boasts a 12.2 MP Primary Camera on the front and 8 MP Selfie Camera on the front same as the one on Pixel 4.

As you would expect out of any Pixel camera, the Pixel 4a camera is amazing. It takes photos with good Dynamic Range and excellent contrast. Its low light performance, portrait shots are one of the best at this price point.

In terms of camera, we can go as far as to say that it is teh best camera in terms of stills at this price.

The pixel 4a is a Google phone, so it no surprise its running Stock Android running on the latest Android 10 out of the box and will get 3 years of updates down the line.

Google has also implemented many of the features avaliable on its flagship Google Pixel 4 like Call screen, live captions and so on.

The Pixel 4a comes with a 3140 mAh Battery, it might look small at first glance. bit in real life the battery lasts you through most days quite easily.

A smaller 60 Hz display along with no 5G and a less power-hungry Snapdragon 730G uses less power which is why it can provide good battery life with such a small battery.

Price and Availability

In the US, the Pixel 4a launched for $349, and in India, the Pixel 4a is supposed to be available from October and will be a Fiipkart exclusive but the pricing has not been revealed yet.

Overall, the Pixel 4a is a great phone with great cameras, good software, decent build, and a acceptable performance for a price tag of $349 in the US. In India, if the Pixel 4a will be successful solely depends on at what price it is available.
