One of the big new features of iOS 14 is Home Screen widgets, which offers info from apps at a look. The widgets might be pinned to the Home Screen in various spots and sizes, allowing a lot of totally different layouts.
Many third-party apps have launched widgets, and now proof that Spotify is creating its own official widget has appeared in a TestFlight beta.
The widget is at the moment available in small and medium sizes, with the former designed to display the paintings of the final performed artist, track, or album, whereas the latter measurement exhibits 4 of the identical content elements.
Unfortunately, there are no play, pause, or next track buttons, since Apple solely allows widgets to present read-only data, with interactive parts resembling scrolling elements or switches not allowed, presumably on account of battery life considerations.
Instead, each widget includes the text “Listen to Music and Podcasts,” and tapping the widget opens the Spotify app. Based on user experiences on Reddit, the Spotify widgets do not yet display album paintings, however, the truth that they exist at all proves that Spotify is working on them.
Last month, we reported that Spotify is testing dedicated support for direct audio streaming to Apple Watch without being connected to the iPhone.
There’s no indication that the appearance of the beta feature is tied to a selected model of watchOS or iOS, however, hopefully, it will not be long before the flexibility to stream Spotify from the wrist can be available to all subscribers.
