Xiaomi is the next smartphone maker to remove the charger from their phone boxes. There is an environmental argument made for shipping fewer chargers, and it also helps Xiaomi save money. This move can grow its profit margins, and also it won’t matter much for people who already have a similar wall adapter at home.
However, someone who is buying a phone for the first time needs to buy an adapter separately, and that could be an added burden. Samsung is reportedly skipping the charger with the Galaxy S21, and so are other brands. This could probably be the next big trend for the smartphone world in 2021.
