Twitter tipster Wario 64 has learned of a Sony registration page that lets US players with PSN IDs join an e-mail invitation to pre-order earlier than most of the public. The firm hasn’t said how many people it is going to choose or just what will increase your odds, but it surely’s choosing folks based on “previous interests and PlayStation activities.”
If you’re selected, you’ll get to pre-order one PS5 (regular or Digital Edition) and as much as two each of Sony accessories like DualSense controllers, charging stations, Pulse 3D headsets, media remotes, and cameras. The ordering window has an expiration date, and pre-orders will probably be on a “first come first serve” basis — you aren’t assured to get one even should you’re invited.
It may be worth signing up. While it’s not certain just what number of PS5 models will be available this holiday season, Sony has warned that “limited quantities and high demand” will come into play. You won’t have to compete with the broader public for models that could easily sell out.
Sony nonetheless hasn’t committed to pricing or a launch date, however. While the corporate hasn’t stated why, many imagine it’s remaining silent on PS5 launch details to prevent Microsoft from selling the Xbox Series X at a lower (or at least more competitive) price. Until either side blinks, this registration page could also be as close as you get to putting money down on Sony’s next-gen console.
