The Exynos 990 from Samsung was a massive disappointment since it performed worse than the Snapdragon 865 and was less power efficient as well.
This along with the fact that all international Samsung Flagship devices shipped with the Exynos 990, which meant that all customers across the world got worse-performing Samsung Flagships at the same price compared to the Snapdragon touting counterparts.
It seems that Samsung has taken this issue seriously, and the new Exynos 1000 shouldn’t disappoint.
The GeekBench scores were published in a Korean forum. According to the reports, the Galaxy S21 was benchmarked, both the ones with the Exynos 1000 and Snapdragon 875 were compared. Moreover, the Xiaomi Mi 11 phone equipped with Snapdragon 875 was benchmarked as well.
The Exynos 1000-powered performed better in single as well as the multi-core benchmarks Snapdragon 875 counterpart. In the single-core test, the Exynos 1000 got 1302 points whereas the Snapdragon 875 1159 around 11% more performance. In the multi-core test, the Exynos 1000 and the Snapdragon 875 scored 4250 and 4090, respectively which is a smaller 4% difference, but because Samsung was much behind Qualcomm in this regard, it is quite impressive. The Mi wasn’t very far as well scoring 1102 and 4113 in single and multi-core tests.
Both the next-gen flagship SoC’s will be packed with 1 Cortex ARM X1 super high power core, 3 ARM A78 high power cores and 4 ARM A55 power-efficient cores. Also, both the SoCs will be based on the Samsung 5 nm process so they should be more efficient than the previous generation.
The tests conducted were definitely on pre-production units, so the numbers aren’t final yet and take this leak with a grain of salt as well.
