On 6th May, 2021, Krafton, a South Korean game development team announced about
Battleground Mobile India launching soon which comes as a rebranding of the iconic and super popular PUBG Mobile India. The game will be launched as a free-to-play experience on mobile phones with exclusive features like limited edition outfits while also collaborating with partners to have esports leagues and tournaments.

In September 2020, a considerable portion of Indians were in for a huge shock as PUBG was banned by the Indian government along with more than a hundred other Chinese apps due to misuse of user data management and privacy issues.

So, with the launch of Battleground Mobile India, It seems like Krafton is looking forward to erasing all kinds of association with the term “PUBG” after its public ban in India in 2020. It has got itself a new logo and sources suggest it has prohibited Indian game content creators to avoid using the word “PUBG.”

Pre-registration

On 14th May 2021, Krafton announced the dates for pre-registration that is going to go live on 18th May 2021.

Only those who pre register will be awarded special prizes (limited to Indian players)

For pre-registration, one needs to visit “Google Play Store” and click on “Pre-register” after which prizes will be available for claiming on launch. You will also get notified regarding all kinds of development happening regarding the game.

However, the pre-registration is only available for Android users. There have been no
announcements regarding pre-registration for iPhone users.

Although this game happens to be the new branding of PUBG, there are certain game features that will take place.

• The gaming limit will be minimized for people under the age of 18. Not only do they not play for more than three hours but they also need to get the green signal from their parents by providing their numbers. You will also get a limit of Rs. 7000 cap per day for in-app purchases for these minors.

• Krafton will limit the amount of violence and bloodshed by replacing it with green color effects. You will also see fully clothed characters in the game.

• Krafton has also ensured full privacy over user data. They have stated full security of data and “ensure private rights, data collection, and storage to be in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in India and for players here,” as Krafton clarified in an official statement released.

As of now, there is no further official information on when the game will be released and available for downloading. However, a teaser has been released across all social media platforms with reports speculating that the date can be 10th June 2021.
