Google’s v90 edition of Chrome hits the stable channel for desktops starting today.

90, improves privacy and security and also improves the initial loading speed of sites that support it. The change is readily available for desktops, and android, but iOS rollout is a bit delayed.

Now, Google Chrome also builds in the AV1 encoder “specifically optimized for video conferencing.”

If you want the update to be installed there are 2 options.

  • restarting your browser
  • go to the browser’s About page under Settings —-> Help to force an update.
